---------------------------------------------------------
The Charité Medical School Berlin (Humboldt University and Free
University) invites applications to the Master of Science (MSc)
Programme on International Health
The postgraduate Masters Programme is a flexible modular degree
programme for full-time or part-time study, consisting of an in-
troductory core course, specialised optional modules and a re-
search project submitted as a thesis. The programme is organised
within the tropEd European Network for Education in Interna-
tional Health, an association of 26 Universities in 13 European
countries and collaborating institutions in Africa, Asia and
Latin America. The core course and five optional modules are
presently offered at Charité Medical School. Further optional
modules can be selected from a list of more than 170 courses of-
fered by the tropEd partner institutions.
STUDY FOCUS
International Health is a new discipline that systematically

prises studies in a number of public-health-related disciplines
including anthropology, biology, economics, environmental
health, epidemiology and statistics, health promotion, manage-
ment sciences, nutrition, population sciences and reproductive

and tropical medicine with a focus on infectious diseases, bac-
teriology, parasitology, virology and laboratory practice.
PROGRAMME STRUCTURE AND DURATION

or up to ten semesters (part-time). A total of 60 European

CHARITÈ MEDICAL SCHOOL BERLIN
The Charité became Humboldt Universitys Faculty of Medicine in
1829 and is one of the most renowned Medical Schools in Europe
today. Humboldt University was founded in 1810 under the name of
Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität as a "universitas litterarum"
which would unite teaching and research and strive towards a
comprehensive humanistic education for its students. Twenty-nine
Nobel laureates have been associated with the university in the
course of their teaching and research careers, contributing to
the excellent academic reputation, which the university contin-
ues to enjoy today. Today some 33,000 students are enrolled at
Humboldt University in more than 220 courses of study in eleven
faculties. Almost ten percent of the students come to Berlin
from abroad. The Charité Medical School has recently merged with
the Medical School of the Free University Berlin to form Ger-
