New Journal: The Journal of Health Population and Nutrition
-----------------------------------------------------------

I am pleased to inform you that the ICDDR,B: Centre for Health and
Population Research has re-launched the Journal of Diarrhoeal Dis-
eases Research (JDDR) as the Journal of Health, Population and Nutri-
tion (JHPN) beginning the June 2000 issue.

The mission of this re-launched quarterly journal is to provide a fo-
rum for publishing new findings on issues pertinent to maternal,
child and family health and related issues of population and nutri-
tion. Issues of fertility, child spacing, maternal and child nutri-
tion, and specific common illnesses are integrally related to overall
health status, and papers which deal with these interactions are es-
pecially welcome. The Journal has also a special interest in publish-
ing original research of relevance to developing countries.

To facilitate the rapid publication of high-quality articles, the
Journal has several section editors who review manuscripts in their
area of expertise. These sections include the following: Emerging in-
fections, Health Systems, Immunization, Nutrition, and Population.

I am inviting you to submit papers for publication in the Journal of
Health, Population and Nutrition. Manuscripts, along with a cover
letter, may also be sent to the Editorial office in Dhaka in elec-
tronic format to: <jhpn@icddrb.org>. An acknowledgement will be re-
turned indicating that it has been received. Manuscripts sent by mail
should be forwarded to:
Managing Editor
Journal of Health, Population and Nutrition
Mohakhali, Dhaka 1212
GPO Box 128, Dhaka 1000
Bangladesh.

I am also requesting you to encourage your colleagues and friends to
submit their papers for publication in the JHPN. Please forward this
letter to them.

While preparing manuscripts, please follow the Vancouver Style (Uni-
form requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals
published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, v. 156, no. 2,
15 January 1997. pp. 270-7). The JHPN's "Information for Contribu-
tors" can also be read and/or downloaded from its website:
http://www.icddrb.org/jhpn

The Journal (JHPN) will be freely available through the Internet:
http://www.icddrb.org/jhpn

to increase the access of readers in developing countries to the pa-
pers published in it. It is indexed by the major international index-
ing systems, including the Index Medicus / Medline, Popline, etc.

I hope you will consider the Journal of Health, Population and Nutri-
tion when submitting your manuscripts for publication.

Sincerely,
