RFI: Malaria Case Management in the Community
---------------------------------------------
Dear Colleagues,
I am interested in community malaria case management in a country
like Uganda where over 60% of households treat fever as malaria be-
fore they seek any health work medical help. The questions I would
like to address are: -
1) How is it possible to avail the households with good quality first
line antimalarials?
2) How can the public sector support the non-medical private sector
to deliver the drugs effectively and safely?
3) What is the best entry point to the communities?
4) Should we encourage self-treatment in the era when drug resistance
to antimalarials is increasing and how do we balance this?
5) How can we in Uganda with high transmission of malaria throughout
the year improve on the preventive aspects as a strategy for malaria
control?
I would be very grateful for any information or references that could
help. Thanks.
