Authentication of a sponsorship offer to participate in a youth
conference
---------------------------------------------------------------
Dear all,
My younger brother has been selected to participate in the world
youth conference in February 2005 by a Christian Organisation
whose details are not clear. The General Secretary of the Or-
ganization, according to the letter of offer, is a Mr. Tonny
Jefferson. I am writing if members have know of a youth confer-
ence that will take place in Washington D.C. from 30th January
to 4th February. Thereafter the conference will take place in
Dakar, Senegal from 9-14 February, 2005.
Could this be real?
Thanks,

[From the moderator: we had similar enquiries last October and
realized that these offers were part of the latest scam to make
participants pay the organisers money who then disappear with
it.

Dear Luhanga,
Thank you for your mail. This is 100% scam, I cannot count the
number of similar e-mails I have received in my mailbox. Many
unsuspecting people have been conned in a similar way. In real-
ity this conference does not exist, they will always indicate
contact as Tel./Fax, yahoo e-mail addresses etc. When you ever
try to dial their phone numbers they are always on fax mode.
They will always ask you to transfer money by western union etc.
For your information your name "Luhanga" means "GOD" in my local
language here in Uganda.
Yours,

Dear Luhanga,
I was also nominated for the so-called World Youth Conference. I
strongly feel it's a fraudulent stuff because I tried getting
more details which never existed. The organisation has no web-
site except for a yahoo e-mail address and no contact details. I
will advice your brother stays out of this.

Dear Luhanga,
I am happy you asked for information. The conference is a big
lie. They sent many docs to me but I was never in a hurry for
anything until I threw an intelligent question to them that
threw them off balance. It's a dupe, I mean a complete dupe. I
hope you'll not yield.
