A French epidemiology graduate course is now available on the net.
The course has been set up at the University of Montreal on the WebCT
platform. The course uses several of the course tools available on
the WebCT platform, namely a glossary, a course index, a lexicon of
epidemiologic terms, an epidemiology dictionary, a chat, a course
mailing list, intranet mail for enlisted students, public-health
scoops for discussion purposes, a search engine, a calendar of forth-
coming events, a set of images of the abstracts of the referenced pa-
pers, exercises to be picked up, submitted as well as corrected on
the web..., the possibility for students to follow up their grades
along the trimester, a link to EPIDEMIO-L relevant discussions, a
FAQ, a few sound and video clips, a list of major epidemiology and
public-health web sites, epidemiologic games, original datasets,
highlights of major statistical issues, etc. Each written lecture (14
in all) contains multiple hyperlinks opening up on commented graphs
or tables. All the course content can be downloaded on personal com-
puters. The course is currently offered to the University of Montreal
students. Starting in September 2001, the course will be available to
Quebec students as well as to the international French-speaking com-
munity involving mainly Europe and Africa.
