RFI: Research on children's eating habits: help!
------------------------------------------------

Dear AFRO-NETS members:

My name is Jane Kauer and I am a PhD student in the Anthropology De-
partment. at the University of Pennsylvania and a pre-doctoral fellow
at Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the
United States. I am doing my dissertation research on cross-cultural
perspectives on children's eating habits / food selection, specifically
what we call in the U.S., "picky" or "finicky" eating. My immediate
goal is to collect as many responses from health care professionals as
possible by the end of April 2001. I have a brief survey for health care
workers working with children (doctors, nurses, dietitians, nutrition-
ists), which addresses how and what children select foods in different
countries. I am collecting most of my data using email and the Inter-
net, as this is really the only way to get any kind of wide catchment.
I have the survey for professionals on-line in four languages (English,
French, Spanish, Italian) at my web site:
http://www.sas.upenn.edu/~jkauer.

I would greatly appreciate any participation and/or suggestions
in/about this research. If you are not interested in or in a position
to complete the survey, perhaps you have suggestions as to places to
"look" for African health care workers on-line.

Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you would like to
correspond with me about this or about my surveys or web site, please
correspond with me: mailto:jkauer@sas.upenn.edu.

Thanks again.

Sincerely, Jane Kauer
