Objectives:
HIV/AIDS is still seen as predominantly a "medical" problem. As the
infection spreads, with consequent increases in morbidity and mortal-
ity, so it becomes more necessary to plan for the medium and long
term social and economic impact.
The workshop "Planning for Social and Economic Impact of HIV/AIDS in
Developing Countries" provides an opportunity for planners and policy
makers to learn new techniques, share ideas and experience and de-
velop novel strategies and tactics in response the HIV/AIDS epidemic.
Workshop content:
Week 1: Concept and Issues
Week 2: Policy and Planning: Experience, Ideas and Techniques
Week 3: Planning Techniques and Computer Modelling
Week 4: Role Play
Workshop participants:
Senior level staff from government, donor agencies, the private sec-
tor and NGOs who want to learn how to put HIV/AIDS into planning,
projects an policy.
Course fees:
GBP 3,650 (inclusive of accommodation, but no meals).
