SOUTHERN AFRICA: Malaria, Cholera Epidemics Will Soon Reach Peak (2)
--------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear Holly Ladd,

It is an extremely urgent and critical matter you are pointing to,
the rising risk of malaria and cholera in southern Africa and on
Madagascar.

I am fully convinced that there is no reason to resort to DDT, when
you have equally efficient insecticides in pyrethroids, all approved
by the WHO Pest Evaluation Scheme. Furthermore, we have the technical
skill to impregnate both blankets and mosquito bed nets in our facto-
ries, thus avoiding environmental pollution at the site where these
articles will be used. With our PermaNet(tm), long lasting impregna-
tion, our formulation will ensure a lifelong impregnation of these
articles.

Madagascar and cholera is a sad story. Looking through the weekly in-
formation from WHO you will see, that even under normal conditions
Madagascar is topping the list of cholera cases. With the recent
flooding there will no doubt be an explosion of cases. Our simple
cholera filters, with 1 per household, will curb an epidemic, and
give the public a generally cleaner water. Please, do not hesitate to
come back if you have any questions.

Best regards,

TORBEN
