STD/HIV prevention/intervention for sex workers
------------------------------------
Dear colleagues,
We received this week a request for information from a colleague in
Nepal. He is working on a project on 'STD/HIV prevention and
intervention among sex workers'.
In summary he describes the project as follows:
"We are implementing a project on STD/HIV prevention/ intervention among
Sex Workers in high risk sites of Pokhara and overall Kaski district,
Nepal. Till now we are working with more than 600 female Sex Workers.
Sex workers have formed a Saving Co-operative to negotiate skills &
small group loan support. Few of them have started small
retail/tea shops which are very effective to exchange experiences and
serve as a possibility to distribute Condom/ICE regularly to their
colleagues".
His request concerns:
Names and addresses of organisations/institutes/ projects etc. working
in this field with whom Nepal can share experiences, ideas and skills.
If you have suggestions you can contact Nepal (see address below) or
through AFRO-NETS.
