Dear Friends,
Participants in the Supercourse:
We have an amazing 9,236 participants from 118 countries, one of the
largest global projects in prevention ever assembled.
Egyptian Supercourse:
Drs. Ossama Rasslan and Rania Saad have started the development of
the Egyptian Supercourse. In just a few days they have already ac-
quired 4 lectures, and next week they will have the "kick-off" of the
Egyptian Prevention Supercourse. The program will consist of the
translation of all the Supercourse lectures into Arabic, as well as
the collection of cutting-edge lectures on prevention from throughout
Egypt. The Minister of Health has promised a wonderful lecture of his
in the Prevention of TB. The National Program in Egypt could be a
model for the world. We welcome all our new friends from Egypt.
IEA:
Epi-Internet-ology - The International Epidemiology Association meet-
ings will take place in Montreal. The Supercourse will group will be
presenting. John Last will lead off with an overview of the potential
of telecommunications, Ron LaPorte will talk about the Supercourse
and Bioterrorism, Akira Sekikawa will discuss the Supercourse, Eugene
Shubnikov will discuss the Russian Supercourse, Eunryoung Sa will
over the concept of Open Source systems, and Ron LaPorte, will sum up
and discuss where we are going. It should be a lot of fun. It will be
in a session titled Epi-Internet-ology, putting the Internet in the
Center of Epidemiology.
We were going to put fliers into the bags of the 1,200 participants,
however, it got a bit pricey as the organizing committee wanted $600
Canadian, for about 2 hours work. Instead, we will send to you a file
that we would most appreciate if you could distribute to the people
in your department. It also announces the new 1,000 lecture CD.
Also, if you see us at the reception, we may have tickets that people
can use to obtain a free CD.
We are trying to find a room where those involved with the Super-
course or want to be involved with the Supercourse can meet.
Prevention's Greatest Hits:
Yes our friends, with your help we will soon release the CD of the
Best of Epidemiology and Prevention. There will hopefully be over
1,000 tracks on this wonderful CD. This will be the best CD of CDC,
with outstanding prevention stars. Most times this would sell for US$
29.99, but we in the Supercourse are giving this you at an unheard of
price of US $0.00. The only cost to you is that we ask you to tell
people about the Supercourse, and to make copies for at least 5 peo-
ple, especially students. This is a gift that is meant to be given.
We are burning 9,000 CDs to be distributed worldwide. This may not be
enough.
We, of course, give priority to those who share their lectures. For
one lecture, they get 1,000 in return, what a wonderful deal. This is
the best deal in all of public health. Could you get this deal from
the London School of Hygiene??? Cambridge??? Harvard??? This would
cost you thousands of dollars elsewhere...but at the Supercourse, it
is being sold at a price below retail, a price below retail, and a
price below de-flation. You and your students just cannot pass it up.
Bet your lectures in early. Please send your lectures in early, this
will zooooooom your name right up the standby list. The more lectures
your send in, greater the likelihood that you will even be in FIRST
CLASS. Most of you have numbers 12,985 or above on the waiting list.
You can spring ahead of virtually everyone, if you just submit one
lecture, which is two hours of your time.
There are only 85 days left to Halloween. We would love to have your
lecture as part of the "Best of Prevention" lecture series. Please
think about sending a neat lecture of yours to the Supercourse. Re-
member, how many people saw your best lecture on prevention last
year? Multiply that number by 1,000 if you have a lecture in the Su-
percourse.
These lectures are not "oldies but goodies", but they are top chart
winners in pop, country and western, blues, and Russian folk lectures
they are wonderful and people worldwide are seeing them. They will
see you also.
If you thought the 500 version was an oldie but goodie, this CD is
"Thriller", and Sgt. Pepper's lonely heart club band---combined,
wouldn't you like to be a part of this?
