Supercourse Newsletter - January 5, 2001

Dear Friends,
As we enter into the 2001, an I-prevention odyssey, much progress has
been made. It is important to reflect on the past year. We currently
have over 2,000 people who have joined us on the faculty. In addi-
tion, we just counted up the number of lectures, and we smashed
through the 300-lecture barrier and now have 363. We never would have
expected that in one year alone over 250 great lectures by you could
have been collected and processed.
We have received numerous compliments concerning the CD. It is likely
that in a week or so we will run out of the 1,600 CDs we had devel-
oped as the demand is so high.
We have some great news: the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) lec-
tures are now up and available. They can be found at:
http://www.pitt.edu/~super1/cdcfront.htm
Jeff Koplan, M.D., the head of CDC has been extremely helpful in that
he has provided a lecture to us. In addition, we will try something
new where we will have his lecture presented world wide, and then he
will answer questions from the lecture.
For the first time all the lectures have been gathered, and are put
in a standardized format with low bandwidth. The faculty across the
world will now have an opportunity to find and teach using the knowl-
edge of the experts from CDC. It has been a remarkable cooperation.
We have asked Jeff if we could have a link from the first page of the
CDC home page to the CDC lectures. This would give us enormous expo-
sure.
CDC has outstanding scientists with extremely important knowledge. We
hope to work with the scientists at CDC to continue to capture this
knowledge in lecture form. We wish to thank Jeff and the others at
CDC who have assisted in the development of this effort.
We look forward to working with you in another exciting year.
