Report on recent requests for GAWH's trachoma monograph
We are very pleased to report that in keeping with the renewed focus
on the problem of trachoma, a number of Europeans, including scholars
and students at Cambridge University and University of Geneva, have
recently requested the web transfer of our monograph on trachoma,
"TRACHOMA: A Women's Health Issue," first published in 1997, with a
revised edition published in 1999.
Summary of requests for trachoma monograph
* Since February 1, 2001, on eight different dates requests were made
for the Global Alliance for Women's Health's trachoma publication
(both in English and French) on the G.A.W.H. website:
http://www.gawh.org
* In the first two weeks of February a total of 18.6 million bytes
were transferred during this period in response to the 36 requests
made.
* Of the 18.6 million bytes transferred: 14.4 million were for the
trachoma publication in French (78%), 4.2 million for the trachoma
publication in English (22%).
* Requests for 9 million of the 14.4 million bytes transferred came
from Belgium, Switzerland, United Kingdom and France. It was not pos-
sible to identify by country the other 5.4 million of the 14.4 mil-
lion bytes transferred. Also, requesters for 4.2 million byte trans-

We are gratified that our contribution to the dissemination of infor-
mation about this debilitating disease as it affects women has been
recognized. Public/private partnerships have been formed to help
eradicate trachoma, and we are committed to continuing to assist
their efforts in every way possible.
