[afro-nets] Two reports analysing HIV/AIDS in Uganda a decade apart

Two reports analysing HIV/AIDS in Uganda a decade apart
-------------------------------------------------------

Dear colleagues,

It is interesting to contrast and compare the knowledge and
views of a decade ago, with the prevailing views of what is now
considered Uganda's success. I bring to your attention two re-
ports analyzing HIV/AIDS in Uganda both published just over a
decade apart.

1. The first "HIV/AIDS AND THE HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN UGANDA"
published in 1992 for my MPH and is available at:
http://medilinks.org/Features/publications.asp

This thesis first published in 1992 is an attempt to examine
some of the possible factors in the spread of the epidemic and
to bring the current problem in to perspective with other health
problems in the health care system of Uganda.

The second is cross posted from af-aids is:
2. "UCSF Multidiscplinary Analysis of HIV/AIDS in Uganda"
Lisa Garbus, US
As part of its Country AIDS Policy Analysis Project, the AIDS
Policy Research Center at the University of California San Fran-
cisco has published a multidisciplinary, fully referenced, peer-
reviewed analysis of HIV/AIDS in Uganda:
http://ari.ucsf.edu/ARI/policy/countries.htm

The paper includes sections on epidemiology, political economy,
socio-behavioral context, impact, and response -- at household,
sectoral, and macrolevels. It is accompanied by a comparative
table of 70 key HIV/AIDS and socioeconomic indicators. The
analysis is available in Word, PDF, and Text-Only formats. Using
the link above, readers may also access UCSF's other country-
level analyses.
