The Malaria Consortium is a joint venture of the Liverpool School of
Tropical Medicine and London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine.
It receives core support from the UK Department for International De-
velopment (DFID). The Malaria Consortium's purpose is to support DFID
and its international and national partners and malaria endemic coun-
tries to develop appropriate policies and strategies to control ma-
laria among the poorest people, and to support effective and coordi-
nated implementation.
The Malaria Consortium is seeking two experienced enthusiastic people
for new posts as Field Officers based in East and West Africa. You
will provide a resource for Malaria Control Programs and their 'Roll
Back Malaria' partners in those regions, offering support in develop-
ment of policy and strategy, partnership building, capacity develop-
ment, technical support for interventions, and information dissemina-
tion.
You will need to be able to demonstrate successful experience of
working in the health sector in a developing country, preferably in
Africa, and have knowledge of and experience of dealing with Minis-
tries of Health, development agencies and civil society organiza-
tions. You should also have a thorough and up to date knowledge of
malaria and its control.
The East Africa post will be based in Uganda and the West Africa post
in Ghana but you will need to spend considerable time in neighboring
countries. Each post will have an institutional link to one of the
major malaria control partners in the base country. The West Africa
Field Officer will be employed by the Liverpool School of Tropical
Medicine and the East Africa Field Officer by the London School of
Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
Salary will be in the range GBP 27,545 - GBP 32,215 plus overseas
package where applicable depending on personal circumstances. Further
