Vacancy: Research Clinician MRC The Gambia

The MRC Laboratories, The Gambia is the Council's largest estab-
lishment conducting medical research in a developing country.
The Unit aims to improve the health of people in low-income
countries by excellence in multi-disciplinary research pro-
grammes.

MRC wish to recruit an experienced Research Clinician to lead in
the organisation and delivery of clinical research trials and
clinical care at the Genito-urinary Medicine Clinic at Fajara
and other sites in The Gambia. This is an excellent opportunity
for you to join a leading research institute.

We seek someone with:

* MD, MB BS, or equivalent medical qualification.
* FWACP Part 1 or equivalent
* Minimum of three years post-graduate experience.
* Good record keeping skills
* Excellent written and spoken English
* Computer literacy in Windows (Outlook, Word, Powerpoint)
* Ability to deal sensitively with study participants
* The ability to work well in a multi-disciplinary team
* Willingness to work flexible hours and be on the on-call rota
* Commitment to continuing education in medicine generally and
HIV in particular

Although not essential, FWACP, formal training in HIV, past ex-
perience of clinical research trials, and local language skills
would be an advantage.

The appointment is to 28th February 2007 in the first instance.

The minimum total salary package for the post will be D410,755
Dalasis per annum. If you have your full FWACP your total salary
package will be 492,693 Dalasis per annum. For displaced staff
the package will include rent-free furnished accommodation,
flights, shipment of personal effects and other benefits.
