Video conference to launch Exchange

The Exchange programme will be launched officially in London with an interna-
tional video conference that will link a range of sites in Af rica, Europe and
North and South America. The launch will take place at London's Middlesex
Hospital Bland-Sutton Lecture Theatre, Mortimer Street on 8 March 2001, start
ing at 14:00 GMT.

The video conference will discuss Health Communications: Lessons learned from
HIV/AIDS experience. Countries to be linked include South Africa (in
Pretoria's World Bank offices), Uganda (in Kampala World Bank of- fices),
Geneva
(at WHO Video Conference room), London (at Middlesex Hospital's
Bland-Sutton Lec-
ture Theatre) Washington (at World Bank of- fices video conference room),
Baltimore (at Johns Hopkins University) and Brazil (in Rio: the site details
for Rio are not yet available.) We also hope to link to Nairobi in Kenya and
Colombo in Sri Lanka. The video conference will include short presentations
from
organisations with practical field experience in developing HIV/AIDS
communication programmes, commentary from staff at UNAIDS, WHO, and Johns
Hopkins University, as well as questions and discussion from members of
the London audience and other participants.

de tails of the location near you. If you are not able to participate
on the day, we will be continuing the discussion, via e-mail after the
video conference. Details of the discussion list e-mail address will be
posted later, together with suggestions for topics. One way or another
we hope you will be able to take part. Exchange is a networking and
learning programme which aims to facilitate the development of a strong
and effective UK health communication sector that works in partner ship
with Southern organisations to encourage collaboration, strategic action,
sharing of good practice and better impact.
