World Bank: Global Campaign to Halve Extreme Poverty... (4)
-----------------------------------------------------------

Mr Wolfensohn is still optimistic that lenders and donors will help
us get there....But:

Anybody moved to react?

Sure. I'm sitting on a viable alternative to distributing donated
computers, scaled to the national level for third world countries,
which costs no more than what it takes to ship them, thus "hooking
the world up to the Internet" for what amounts to peanuts, and not so
much as a peep out of the movers and shakers. I suspect that this oc-
curs at every level of problem solving for the world community. What
I think needs to be done, is to develop a model based on the Open-
Source software movement, e.g., Linux, and apply it to world prob-
lems, and governments be d%$^&*. Go get 'em, Claudio. I'm with you on
this topic.
