2nd PtD Human Resources for Supply Chain Management Conference
Copenhagen Denmark*
28-30 October 2014*
Background:
The People that Deliver (PtD) Initiative is a broad global coalition of
organizations that strives to improve the health supply chain workforce in
developing countries. It is based on the global recognition that without
trained professionals to manage the health supply chains, medicines and other
health supplies do not reach the patients who need them.
Since the first PtD conference in Geneva, Switzerland in 2011 there has been
significant international and country-based activity in pursuit of our
vision;
-to build global and national capacity to implement evidence-based
approaches to plan, finance, develop, support and retain the national
workforces needed for the effective, efficient and sustainable management of
health supply chains.
Under the theme of 'Working together to professionalise health supply
chains' the 2nd PtD Human Resources for Supply Chain Management Conference
will showcase a variety of international and country-based activities
addressing the following five sub themes:
i.Assessment and planning
Assessing HR systems, creating policies, plans and SOPs for an effective and
sustainable SCM workforce
ii. Leaders and change agents
Engaging powerful stakeholders and SCM leaders to put HR for SCM on the
agenda and enact local change
iii.Workforce development
Developing the SCM workforce through contextualised pre-service education and
continued professional development
iv. Increasing performance
Increasing the performance and retention of SCM personnel within an
organisational context

Developing minimum standards for health logistics and supply chain personnel,
and growing professional communities
