E-DRUG: Affordable Medicines Facility for malaria (AMFm) (2)
------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,
I appreciate the effort which aims to help the marginalized patients suffering from malaria. Economically developed countries coming forward to take care of the suffering humanity shows the social concern of those who can afford to share their earnings. Diseases prevalent in third world have not received much concern otherwise because the populations of economically well to do countries are not affected by them. Pharmaceutical industry looks the other way when it comes to research for new and effective medicines for the diseases exclusive to economically poor countries because they do not see profiteering from them.
Many organizations and individuals have shown concern in the past for the marginalized and needy patients but experience has been that not all in the need have benefitted. There remains a wide gap between the cherished dreams of the medicine philanthropists and the wanting ailing poor.
Hope this effort will really mean the business for which it is being launched and mere lip sympathy for gaining publicity, availing tax benefits, getting nominated for awards will not dilute the primary objective. Good luck to those who have shown the interest in helping the malaria patients.
