Compiled by WHO/TCM/AFRO in collaboration with Ministries of Health, UK DFID and European Commission

This CD-ROM contains the following categories of medicines policy documents from 11 African countries: Antiretroviral Therapy Guidelines; Assessment of Country Pharmaceutical Sector Reports; Drug Formularies; Essential Medicines Lists; National Drug Policies; National Pharmaceutical Master Plans; and Standard Treatment Guidelines.

The aim is to provide a useful information resource to assist and guide policy makers, administrators and implementing organizations, including the private sector and Nongovernmental Organizations, involved with the pharmaceutical sector in each country. The selection also allows for cross comparison of medicines policies and guidelines between countries.

There are different options available for viewing the documents. In addition to searching the documents by categories, countries or titles, it is also possible to simultaneously compare the same documents from different countries. For example, it is possible to compare medicines listed in the same therapeutic category in the essential medicines list from two different countries (e.g. medicines used for the treatment of malaria).
