The best pain faculty Africa has ever seen
Calling all Medical fraternities such as Neurosurgeons, Neurologists,
Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Anesthesiologists, Palliative Care
physicians, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Rheumatologists, Paramedical Staff,
Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and Nursing Staff to register
and submit an abstract for the 4th PAN African Pain Congress due to take
place from 11 13 March 2011 at the Cape Town International Convention
Centre.
The NeuPSIG day will focus on the neuropathies including post herpetic
neuralgia, AIDS pain, leprosy, and diabetic neuropathy.
The LPC will have a one day course on the basic mechanisms of different
pain states, the pharmacology of pain control, genetic factors etc. The
day aims to educate and illuminate clinicians on important issues in
understanding pain and is very much aimed at the interested health
professional.
Speakers will include:
. Prof C Imarengiayeia, who will speak on: Post partum analgesia are we
doing enough?
. Dr F Boni, who will speak on: Setting up a pain service in Africa
where do we start?
. Prof A Dickenson, who will speak on: What's happening in pain
physiology?
. Dr J Van Zundert, who will speak on: Cervical radicular pain what can
we do about it?
. Dr R Freynhagen, who will speak on: Management of painful diabetic
polyneuropathy epidemic burden of tomorrow.
