Amayeza* Information Centre launched

The Pharmnet Amayeza* Information Centre was launched on the 6th May
1999. With its objectives of providing up-to-date, objective and
accurate information on medicines, Amayeza aims to meet the growing
medicine information needs of pharmacists, other health care
professionals and the general public, in South Africa.

Pharmnet Amayeza Info Centre is the brain child of Pharmnet and IMS
Health - Pharmnet, in association with the PSSA, was established just
over a year ago by the Southern Gauteng Branch of the Pharmaceutical
Society of South Africa and InTouch Technologies. The objective was
the development of a reliable, rapid and up-to-date information site
of healthcare information for the pharmacy profession. Pharmnet was
recently acquired by IMS Health, the world's leading source of
information and technology solutions in the pharmaceutical and
healthcare fields in more than 90 countries.

The Pharmnet Amayeza Info Centre provides a free telephonic and e-mail
based medicine enquiry answering service for health professionals.
Based in Rosebank in Gauteng, the Amayeza Info Centre offers its
services both Nationally and Internationally.

The centre is operated by experienced medicine information pharmacists
and has a wide array of relevant and current resources, including CD
Rom databases, medical and pharmaceutical journals, textbooks and
links to other speciality centres.

Furthermore, Amayeza, in order to ensure that it remains a sustainable
medicine information service while maintaining its independence, is
continually investigating alternative strategic avenues to provide all
players in the health care industry with an affordable and reliable
source for their specific medicine information needs. The services
