E-DRUG: Application of bar coding in medical stores
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear E-druggers,
I am the Manager of Medical Stores Department, Tanzania. Starting this year
we want to see all pharmaceutical products in our warehouses to have bar
codes, so that they can easily be issued and received into warehouse.
I have the task to coordinate all activities related to bar coding
implementation. To do so, I would like to have information from those
already implementing bar codes in their medical stores. I would appreciate
to hear from organizations and companies using the bar coding system in
their warehouses.
Thank you in advance.

E-DRUG: Application of bar coding in medical stores (3)

Dear Tabura,
Bar code systems are a good management and tracking tool. Introduction may have a huge impact on your management system and implications even on the actual warehouse and accounting software that you're using.
However, get well informed before you start implementing bar code systems in your warehouse. By the end of this year or in early 2009, bar code systems will be replaced by a more up to date and electronic system.
Asrames (the medical store in the eastern Congo, serving some 15 million people) is looking into this matter and will probably not introduce bar code software anymore, but wait for a new chip based systems.
