E-DRUG: Antibiotics sales data

Dear folks,
I am doing research in asthma and allergies and how the
development of these may be influenced by the patterns of
microbial exposure in early childhood.
I am trying hard to find figures on the gross sales/use of
antibiotics in a whole range of countries around the world
and for which I have asthma data.
Can you help me in any way to obtain these figures ?

Sales data on pharmaceuticals are usually difficult to get. The
most well known and expensive source of sales statistics is IMS.
All major pharmaceutical companies subscribe to this service and
they are not supposed to divulge the information to others.
However, in some situations IMS provides sales figures to
researchers in academia without any fee. My suggestion would be
to contact IMS directly in the UK and also one of the makers of
asthma medications such as Glaxo Wellcome. Another option could
be to try to get hold of any review on asthma medications by the
pharmaceutical industry publication Scrip. E-druggers with
additional ideas or access to such information, please help out.
