E-DRUG: ARV coordinator needed for Botswana
------------------------------------------------------------

The Academy for Educational Development, of Washington, D.C., is
seeking to recruit an in-country coordinator for the Government of
Botswana's Anti-Retroviral Therapy program. This program, with major
support from Merck Pharmaceuticals and the Gates Foundation, is part
of the Botswana Ministry of Health's efforts against HIV/AIDS.

The precise job description is now being worked out by the Government
of Botswana and an AED representative in Gaborone, and will be
available soon. For this preliminary recruitment announcement, here
are the basic points about this ARV position in Botswana:

� This person will be the coordinator of Botswana's new
Anti-Retroviral Therapy program, in charge of implementing and
managing the ARV Therapy program begin launched by the Government of
Botswana, in partnership with Merck and the Gates Foundation.
� This coordinator will be an AED employee.
� The coordinator will be a senior person, strong in drug
management and logistics, very preferable to have a clinical
background; the ideal would be an MD with strong drug management and
logistics credentials.
� Long-term experience in a developing country is a
prerequisite, AIDS experience very much preferred.
� The coordinator will work within the Ministry of Health's
National AIDS Coordinating Agency.
� Compensation and benefits will be comparable to other
expatriate scales.
� Two-year commitment, could be more; start date is March 1, or
ASAP.
