Dear colleagues

Please find attached an invitation to colleagues in the Asia pacific
region to apply for a scholarship to attend the National Medicines
Symposium In Australia in June 2006(www.nps.org.au/events). The
scholarship is for AUD$5000. A copy of the application form can be

A scholarship opportunity exists for a health academic, health worker or
policy colleague from the Asia-Pacific region with an interest in
rational drug use to attend the National Medicines Symposium 2006 -
balancing beliefs, benefits and harms. This will be held Wednesday 7 -
Friday 9 June 2006 at the National Convention Centre in Canberra,
Australia.

What is the National Medicines Symposium (NMS) 2006?

NMS 2006 is a forum on Quality Use of Medicines (QUM) hosted by the
National Prescribing Service Limited (NPS) and the Pharmaceutical Health
And Rational use of Medicines (PHARM) Committee in Australia. It brings
together international and national experts, general practitioners,
pharmacists, other health professionals, consumers, policy makers,
project and program coordinators, researchers and academics,
pharmaceutical industry, government departments, health organisations,
and medical writers to explore the role of QUM in Australia.

What is the NMS 2006 International Scholarship?

NPS is seeking expressions of interest from an international colleague
in the Asia-Pacific region to attend the NMS 2006. NPS will assist the
successful scholar with a bursary of $5000 (AUD) to cover travel,
accommodation, registration costs and associated expenses.

NPS will accept and consider applications from colleagues from the
Asia-Pacific region who are working in the area of Quality Use of
Medicines. Applicants should be working in a research, teaching or
policy development role and should be prepared to provide a 10-minute
oral presentation of their work as a part of a seminar in the
proceedings of the Symposium.
