E-drug: BBC Television DTC advertising film

directly with John Hay. KM, moderator]

Dear Dr Lexchin,

I work for Newsnight, BBC Television's main analytical news programme. We
are coming to the USA next week to do a report on Direct-to-consumer
advertising of prescription drugs, which is just beginning to become an
issue in the UK.

In order for the piece to work, we desperately need to find patients who
have views on DTC ads - ideally one who is pro (something along the lines
of
"I'm glad I saw the ad; the drug has made a real difference to my life")
and
one who is anti ("The ad promised a lot, but failed to deliver..."). Clara
Mackay at the Consumers Association in London gave me your e-mail address
and suggested that you might know some people in this position. If you
could point me in the direction of anyone who is able to talk to us, I
would
be enormously grateful - as I said, the film hinges on us finding these
people, so even a lead would be good.

Please do give me a call/ send me an e-mail if you have any suggestions.

Many thanks in advance,

John Hay
