[e-drug] Brain drain of pharmacists (cont'd)

E-drug: Brain drain of pharmacists (cont'd)
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks Eva for providing concrete ideas to solve the problems of
shortage. The idea of one supervisor for a number of
organisations/sites including drug stores is really good and I hope
some governments/donors can pick it up.

Some developing countries have excess health workers including
doctors and pharmacists. I often wondered if "VSO" type work can
encourage training of those people to work in countries with
shortages as a gap filling mechanisms until you get trained nationals.
I think salaries will be more than paid to VSO volunteers but perhaps
not as expensive as Western expatriates.

In any case I think we need a mixture of solutions.
