E-DRUG: Call for Consultant for WHO Local Production Programme

Purpose of the Consultancy:
The consultant will assist and support the Local Production Programme with programme activities in strengthening local production for improving access to quality-assured essential medicines and other health products in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Work to be performed:
To assist with the preparation and organization of workshops and meetings related to the programme activities of the Local Production Programme. Work to be performed may include, but is not limited to:
- preparing background information and materials through research, information compilation, etc.;
- assisting with the development & finalization of a concept note and agenda;
- liaising with experts and partners to seek participation and obtain workshop/meeting materials;
- liaising with participants for registration and other communications;
- organizing the logistics in collaboration with administrative staff and other relevant stakeholders;
- assisting with finalization of the workshop report.
Qualifications required:
University degree in pharmacy, life sciences (such as biochemistry, biotechnology, and biomedical engineering) or other health or socio-economic related fields.
Skills/Technical skills and knowledge required:
Strong methodological and analytical skills, with the ability to conduct research and identify and analyse literature relevant to the programme area. Excellent technical writing skills. Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work in a multicultural team and maintain effective working relationships with recognized experts and stakeholders.
Good planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
Proficient in in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, presentation software, databases and web navigators.
Experience required:
A minimum of three years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences or other health or socio-economic related field.
Relevant professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in technology transfers & local production of pharmaceutical products or in the regulation of medical products is desired.
Experience in an international organization or working in LMICs would be an asset. Relevant professional experience in economics (or related field) or health regulations/policies (or related field) would also be an asset.
Languages required:
Expert knowledge of English. Working knowledge of another WHO official language would be an asset.
