E-DRUG: Call for Consultant for WHO Local Production & Assistance Unit

Purpose of the Consultancy:
The consultant will assist and support the Local Production & Assistance Unit with programme activities in strengthening local production for improving access to quality-assured essential medicines and other health products in low and middle-income countries (LMICs).

Work to be performed:
Task 1: Assist with the preparation and organization of holistic training workshop(s) on key enabling factors for successful local production.
Task 2: Assist with the organization of interagency consultation(s) on local production.

Activities:
Task 3: Assist with other consultation(s)/meeting(s) related to local production and technology transfer organized by or involving LPA.
Task 4: Assist with organizing webinars on local production and technology transfer for WHO country/regional offices and other stakeholders.
Task 5: Assist with maintaining the LPA website in collaboration with administrative staff.
Task 6: Assist with the development of advocacy material for LPA.

Qualifications required:
University degree in pharmacy, sciences, life sciences (such as biochemistry, biotechnology, and biomedical engineering) or other health or socio-economic related fields.

Skills/Technical skills and knowledge required:
- Knowledge related to the technical and/or business aspects of the pharmaceutical industry, in technology transfers & local production of pharmaceutical products, or in the regulation of medical products.
- Excellent writing skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a multicultural team and maintain effective working relationships with recognized experts and stakeholders.
- Strong methodological and analytical skills with the ability to conduct research, identify and analyse literature relevant to the programme area.
- Strong planning and organizational skills with attention to detail and with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications: Word, Excel, presentation software, databases and web navigators.

Experience required:
- A minimum of two years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical, life sciences or other health or socio-economic related field.
- Relevant professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry, in technology transfers & local production of pharmaceutical products or in the regulation of medical products is desired.
- Experience in organizing meetings and/or training workshops.
- Experience in an international organization or working in LMICs would be an asset.

Languages required:
Expert knowledge of English. Working knowledge of another WHO official language would be an asset.

Contract duration and location:
6 months
Geneva, Switzerland
