E-DRUG: Calling Drug Information Centers

E-DRUG: Calling Drug Information Centers
----------------------------------------

Dear friends,

I would like to introduce myself as a pharmacist from Egypt. I
graduated from Mansoura pharmacy school in 1996. Perhaps some of
you may be aware that next year's International Pharmacy
Federation's (FIP) annual congress will be held in Cairo, Egypt.
I am also in the organizing committee of the International
Pharmaceutical Students' Federation (IPSF) Congress which will
meet before the FIP meeting.

Currently, I am doing an internship at the United States
Pharmacopeia (USP). One of my goal in this 12-weeks' internship
at the USP is to gain experience in developing drug information
resources for health care professionals and consumers. It is my
desire to set up a drug information center in Egypt within the
Ministry of Health.

USP has supported the development of Drug Information Centers
(DICs) in several countries and is in the process of developing a
manual on how to set up DICs. In order to produce such a manual we
would like to get a current picture about the experiences of DICs
around the world, their strengths, weaknesses, activities, and
threats. In order to obtain this information, we plan to send a
questionnaire to all DICs in the next few weeks. We would also like
to prepare a directory of DICs around the world which will have the
name of contact person (s), snail mail address, email address (if
available), phone, fax (if available), etc.

I am sending this email with a hope that all DICs who are
subscribers of E-DRUG and have access to email will send me their
contact information and folks who are aware of other DICs please
email me the relevant information. Thanks.

Dear friends, we look forward to your support to reach the highest
possible number of DICs around the world. We thank you in advance
for your cooperation.
