Dear E-Drug,
It is not clear from Subhas C. Mandal letter when it is stated that
in India Codeine is a "prescription drug". In India several
prescription drugs can be purchased over the counter.

Also of interest:

with centrally acting anti-tussive and/or antihistamine.
2)Fixed dose combination of centrally acting anti-tussive with
antihistamine having high atropine like activity in expectorants.
3)Preparations claiming to combat cough associated with asthma
containing centrally acting anti-tussive and/or an antihistamine.
