COPENHAGEN, 01 March 2011 - UNICEF Supply Division is currently collecting
data from manufacturers to create the third edition of 'Sources and Prices
of Selected Medicines for Children'

In this 2011 edition, UNICEF and WHO focus on identifying difficult to
source paediatric formulations. The range of items covers medicines
suitable for children, therapeutic food and vitamin and mineral
supplements.

Availability of priority essential medicines is critical to reducing child
morbidity and mortality and we would like to encourage both generic and
originator manufacturers from around the world to participate and support
UNICEF and WHO endeavours in increasing access to quality medicines for
children.

We are especially looking for:

Â· Medicines covering the Priority Essential Medicines for Child
      Survival wish list

Â· A combination pack for Oral Rehydration Salts (ORS) and Zinc tablets

   Â· Flavoured ORS

Â· The most common and most needed medicines for children in dispersible
      dosage forms

   Â· Amoxicillin dispersible tablets

   Â· Injectable antibiotics for neonates

Â· Respiratory stimulants and pulmonary surfactants for the treatment of
apnoea and respiratory distress syndrome in newborns

Manufacturers are invited to download and complete the form and send it
with any relevant attachments by email to dansources@unicef.org before
Friday, 11th of March 2011. This 3rd edition will be released in the second
quarter of 2011.

Data for the medicines and nutrition products requested is based on the WHO
Model Essential Medicines List for Children (EMLc) and the WHO Model
Formulary for Children: http://www.who.int/selection_medicines/list/en/, as
well as medicines from WHO prequalification expression of interest lists:
