Course Announcement

This is eight full working days at a stretch course, which is condensed version of the successful course developed by WHO to respond to effective planning, research and implementation of rational medicine use practices in the community. The course is physically and intellectually challenging and may run for extended hours in the evening, with some homework for self-learning. No leave is permissible during the course. Individuals interested in improving drug use in the community are encouraged to apply. To encourage the participants, the course fee has been kept very low. The course will start on 01 March 2006 at 0900 hrs and conclude on 08 March at 1600 hrs.
OBJECTIVES
The course will concentrate on methods to study and remedy inappropriate medicine use in the community. It will aim at imparting the requisite knowledge and skills during which the participants will be exposed to practical approaches to investigating and prioritizing medicine use problems, and how to develop effective strategies for bringing about the desired change.
DESIGN
The course will be highly interactive and participative in nature, with more time devoted for group activities. The course will use the knowledge, skills and experiences of participants as a major resource. Teaching methods will include group task, fieldwork, presentation and discussion. The medium of instruction will be English. The course materials will be developed as per the guidelines of WHO and the International Network for Rational Use of Drugs (INRUD) in collaboration with eminent resource persons in this field.

RESOURCE PERSONS
Trained, effective communicators who are good facilitators and hard task persons will conduct this course.
VENUE
The venue will be API A Hall and Seminar room of Department of Pharmacology of Government Medical College, Nagpur, India. The participants have to reach on 01 March at 9 AM sharp at API hall.

APPLICATION & FEES
The fee will be Indian National Rs. 500 which will cover tuition, course material, kit, breakfast, lunch and field work from 01 to 08 March 2006. All participants will have to make own arrangements for travel. Outstation participants desiring accommodation will be accommodated on advance information at Guest House of Super Specialty Hospital of Govt. Medical College Nagpur and dinner will be arranged for them.
Limited number of participants will be accepted for this course. Interested should immediately route their application duly recommended by the respective Head of the Department (HOD), in attached registration form. Every participant must submit a proposal for project relating to rational use of medicines in community and DD for Rs 500 drawn in favour of "Course Coordinator, Training course on promoting rational medicine use in the community, GMC, Nagpur" payable at Nagpur. The last date for application is February 20, 2006 and selected participants will be informed by E-mail on 21st FEB 2006 evening.
