The MOH in Guinea Bissau would like to improve the drug management
system and is considering to computerize part of the information
system for distribution and cost-recovery of essential drugs, linked
with a financial accounting-system.
The country has around 1 million people, a budget for ED of around
US$ 800.000, 1 Central Medical Store, 10 Regional Medical Stores, 6
hospitals and around 115 Health Centres which support more than 600
Village Health Posts. There is an approved ED list.
Taking into account the need for auditing, reliability and
possibilities for information exchange between different levels,
consideration is given to use a good standard programme on accountancy
and stock management (e.g. EXACT) for the Central Medical Store and to
use a good handmade administration at lower levels.
Is there somebody who would like to share experiences on this subject?
