E-drug: Conflicts of interest (cont)
--------------------------------------------->
Dear Colleagues
In France members of the medicines agency and the national health
accreditation and evaluation agency are now obliged to divulge their
conflicts of interest. The medicines agency has published conflicts
of interest in its yearly report since 1995. In its 1998 report on
the French social security system, the Cour des Comptes (audit body)
stated that the number of conflicts of interest among members of the
drug licensing commission raised questions about their independence
and neutrality, especially as they were present during the
examination of drugs from firms
with which they had a conflict of interest.
