Consultancy: conduct a situation analysis, propose recommendations and an implementation plan to the Department of Drug Administration (DDA) for the revision of medicines prices regulation in Nepal.

Dear e-drug members,

The USAID Medicines, Technologies, and Pharmaceutical Services (MTaPS) Program is looking for a consultant who can support delineating an implementation plan to revise the price regulation in Nepal, incorporating pricing interventions recommended by WHO and those that other countries in the region apply to reach universal health coverage, ensure equity and affordability, and reduce out-of-pocket expenditures.
Description of services to be provided:

The international consultant together with a local consultant, MTaPS team, and in collaboration with the DDA and the Ministry of Health and Population will:
-Revise the existing pharmaceutical pricing policy, legislation, guidelines and procedures/practices.
-Analyze data, perform further assessments and provide advice, recommendations and options to further advance policy and regulation for medicines prices in Nepal.
-Organize a price regulation conference to gather consensus from stakeholders.
-Based on the feedback, develop strategies and an implementation plan for the revision of medicines prices regulation in Nepal.

Period of performance: July 1 to October 30, 2022
