Dear E-druggers,
Re: earlier discussion on Nigerian counterfeits
The publication on the Nigeria study is probably no longer available.
The figures being referred to are the ones that are at the basis of
statements like: "up to 60 % of drugs on the Nigerian market are
counterfeit". It's evidently a misquotation. Moreover, the figures
refer to a study on samples taken from the street market, not from
pharmacies.
Also, the distinction between substandard and counterfeit
in a strict sense is not being made.
