"I have three documented cases of agranulocytosis and ten cases of
vasculitis attributed to dipyrone in Argentina in a study that
reviewed 4,500 clinical charts. They are documented following all
clinical,
haematological and biochemical guidelines of ICU hospitalization.
Those cases were not included in the pharmacovigilance database of
Argentina, but I reported them. The insistence of Hoechst to defend
dipyrone only answers to economic interests totally opposed to the
rational use of drugs. In my particular case, these reports
have posed me serious problems both professional and docent, since
dipyrone in Argentina represents a big deal, since it is object of
indiscriminate sales without prescription, a situation sponsored by
the pharmaceutical industries that benefit from this.
