E-drug: Distinction between cosmetics and pharmaceutical products (cont)
---------------------------------------------
I am not addressing the issue mentioned in the subject of this message, but I
wish to refer to a statement contained in Shiba Karkee's message: "a doctor
should not be worried if something works, if his/her practice goes well, if
patient is pleased, and if the society and community appreciate the service"
At first sight this seems a very wrong and dangerous attitude. Probably Shiba
Karkee should be offered the possibility to provide some explanations:
- how does s/he know that "something works"? Just because patients
don't come back to complain?
- what means "practice goes well"?
- how can you base assessment on "patient is pleased" (by the way, placebo
literally means "I shall please you") and "society and community appreciate the
service" ?
