Dear Friends:
Colleagues here at the Harvard School of Public Health are organizing a
follow-up study of women with HIV in Dar es Salaam. They would like to
be able to offer a variety of basic therapies as an adjunct to the
research, but do not have funds to purchase medications.
It would be a much better idea to ask for donations of funds so that you
can purchase exactly the medications you need at the best prices from
agencies which have the most cost-effective transport available as well.
Donors rarely have an excess of appropriate good quality medications in the
required categories. Scrounging, sorting and transport of miscellaneous
items of variable quality is a waste of time and money and the results are
almost always disappointing.
