E-drug: Drug and Therapeutics Committees
----------------------------------------------------------
During the International Conference on Improving Use of Medicine (ICIUM)
held in Thailand, representatives from more than 50 countries underscored
the importance of hospital therapeutics committee in improving drug use.
WHO`s Action Programme on Essential Drug (DAP) is starting to establish a
process of formulating guidelines for Hospital Therapeutics
Committees/Pharmacy Therapeutics Committes.
As an initial step, we are starting a process of consultation and possibly
formation of a working group.
1. Please let us know if there are hospitals and people out there who are
currently involved in this activity. ( name, institution, address for
correspondence and a background of the activity)
2. Particularly, we are interested in knowing the achievements and
experiences of institutions with a successful working committee. (Why the
structure and function are working.)
3. We would also like to know what did not work and why.
4. Copies of existing guidelines will be very much appreciated.
We are hoping to come up a with practical and relevant guidelines by
collaborating with people and institutions with experience in this area.
Thank you
