I would appreciate if folks on this network could let me know about software
available for drug inventory control. I would like to know the basic
features of the software ( including strong and weak points), hardware
system requirements, some comment about user friendliness, upgrades, cost,
name and address of the distributer etc

Several countries have asked the same question, and it seems that
everyone is re-inventing wheels. I know of the following software:
INVEC - Management Sciences for Health, USA
SWEDIS - Pharmasoft Uppsala
GEMEDIC - AEDES Belgium
NAVISION - Denmark (in use by Danish Red Cross in Ethiopia, Uganda)
Software developed promoted by Paul Lamberts, Netherlands
Maybe E-druggers could complete the survey by sending in more examples.
In my opinion there is clearly a task for someone to write a review of
these type of software. And maybe WHO should be asked to write guidelines
so that standards could be set.
