[e-drug] Drug pricing data - help wanted - update

E-drug: Drug pricing data - help wanted - update
---------------------------------------------
On Nov 1st I wrote requesting help with identification of data on drug
prices to be used in a review being conducted by the Productivity
Commission (copy of message below). I got a nice response -
thank-you to all who helped. These messages have been passed on to
the Commission who are extremely grateful. They are still very keen
to get more information from Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, France
and Germany. Part of the problem may be language, so if anyone has
useful contacts in these countries who could communicate with the
Commission I'd be very grateful for their contact details. Please
reply to me personally and I'll pass the information on.

The enquiry findings will be made available in due course, and I will
ensure that E-drug subscribers have access to the report if they wish.

Original message

The Australian Productivity Commission (PC) has been asked by the
Australian government to carry out a survey of the prices of
important drugs in Australia. The perception in some sections of
Australia, particularly the pharmaceutical industry, is that the
prices here are too low. The PC wishes to carry out international
comparisons with countries with similar economies to Australia. I
believe that they are trying to do a good job and use sound
methodology. If anyone has access to data in their countries that
they can make available to the PC I'd be grateful if they will let me
know and I will pass on contact details.]
