Dear Friends,
Although the topic of problem drugs are of great concern globally ,
there are not many published research papers dealing with
pharmaceutical regulatory/registration system and policy.
Many papers came from consumer group trying to state the situation
of problem drugs and unethical marketing. Some papers also described
the system used in various countries. Some interesting issues raised and/or studied are
1. The efficiency/ effectiveness of regulatory system and how to assess
2. The impact of regulatory action/de-registration on availability of
drug, on rational use, on research and development of drug.
3. Factors influencing drug regulatory policiesDoes anyone have the information about research in this area of
to share with. Any comment or suggestion on research issues
dealing with this area is greatly appreciated. Many thanks and best regards,
Niyada

[This is an interesting topic that is seriously neglected particularly in
evaluating the effects of regulatory changes. There is a recent article in
social science and Medicine by Hilbran Haak and Mariam Claeson on the
banning of anti-diarrheal drugs.
