E-DRUG: Drug regulatory authority medicines registration software (4)
--------------------------------------------------------
Dear Ed,
In 2005 the RPM Plus program of Management Sciences for Health (MSH) developed PharmaDex to support Namibia regulatory authority improve efficiency in the medicines registration process. The Strengthening Pharmaceutical Systems (SPS) program, follow-on to the RPM Plus, has continued to support PharmaDex.
Pharmadex was originally developed with a goal to computerize and streamline the medicines registration process. Experience in Namibia has shown that there is need for electronic tool that is modular and can computerize not just registration but also the entire regulatory processes and functions. SPS currently is enhancing PharmaDex into a web-based tool that can integrate multiple regulatory functions. Several national medicines regulatory authorities have already expressed interest in deploying PharmaDex. Typically technical assistance and support are needed to streamline the regulatory process and inform the adaptation of pharmadex to specific local needs.
