Dear e-Druggers

The process of drug registration and harmonisation of licensing procedures in Southern Sudan has started with NOTIFICATION of all pharmaceutical products (medicines) currently circulating on the market. SIAMED computer package has been found inappropriate for Southern Sudan presently.

We are trying to identify and install an alternative very simple computer package that can assist in developing a system for drug registration and licensing of pharmaceutical outlets (wholesalers, retail pharmacies and community medicines shops) in Southern Sudan.

Your contribution and guidance on this subject will be greatly appreciated.

I would be very happy to help ... and to start, perhaps you could tell
me a little more about what you are planning.

I have been involved with database development for a very long time
... and the trick is to have very clear logical ideas about what you
are trying to do.

From what you wrote, I gather that part of the data is to have a

registration of the organizations involved in the trade of
pharmaceuticals.

I am not sure whether there is also a registration of the
pharmaceuticals themselves.

I am not sure whether there is any concept of oversight and validation
of these data

I am not sure whether there is any validation of the efficacy of the
pharmaceuticals ... both those that are ostensibly legitimate and
registered, and those that are fake or counterfeit. Are there any
facilities that can test drugs?

I am working at the edge of all of this in connection with the
development and deployment of Community Analytics (CA) ... and
specifically the development of the health related modules of the CA
system. Our plans for CA health embrace the various ideas referred to
above ... together with a large scale database.
