E-DRUG: E-drug is reorganising, and needs your support!
-------------------------------------------------------
[important message! WB]
Dear E-druggers,
Recently FHI360 let us know that they can no longer support the servers that run the E-Drug listserv system. They will stop support on 1 March 2020. They have handed us the contract for the servers, the Mailman mailing system and the healthnet.org domain. We as moderators have taken the decision to keep the E-drug system running, as we think it still has a useful role in the world of Access to (essential) medicines.
As you probably know the moderators have always been volunteers, and we have no budget or income. We are now faced with the responsibility of paying for the servers ($107/month). We also need technical IT support to maintain the servers and the Mailman system (estimated at 5 hours/month).
So after 25 years of operations, E-drug needs your financial and/or technical help!
If all E-druggers (am including E-med and E-lek now as well) contributed USD 5 then we would have enough budget to keep our systems running for a few years.
We have opened a PayPal E-DRUG account <https://paypal.me/EDRUG> where we hope that many of you will make a voluntary contribution! We suggest you send us (the equivalent of) USD 5 as a voluntary contribution.
As we are volunteers, and E-drug is not (yet) a legal entity, the account is for the time being in the name of Willibrord (Wilbert) Bannenberg, and is exclusively for the support of E-drug, E-med and E-lek. The other moderators will get regular updates of the account from Wilbert. And we will share our annual financial picture with the list.
You can also help us by suggesting a new sponsor or organisation that we can partner with.
E-druggers with technical skills for setting up and running a website, cloud-based servers are invited to send a message to <mailto:wilbert@e-drug.org> wilbert@e-drug.org We also welcome collaboration with other organisations!
We have also secured new domains: e-drug.org, e-med2.org and e-lek.org where we can place the archives and possibly start a website.
The moderators are also open for suggestions to move the E-drug system to another platform.
In the coming months we will explore our options and will inform you from time to time.
So please help us to keep the E-drug systems going!
On behalf of all moderators,
Beverley Snell, Kirsten Myhr, Richard Laing, Carinne Bruneton, Liliya Ziganshina and Wilbert Bannenberg
