E-drug: EDL from Mozambique (cont'd)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Dear e-druggers,
I work with the Rational Pharmaceutical Management-Mozambique
USAID project. To my knowledge an official EDL has not been
updated since the one published by UNICEF. However, Mozambique
did update its "Formulario Nacional de Medicamentos" which was
approved by the Minister of Health, Dr. Aurelio Zilhao, on July 16,
1999. It is called the 4th edition of the National formulary, the 3rd one
having been published in 1984.
I count approximately 436 drugs, surgical supplies, vaccines,
nutritional supplements, and family planning commodities listed in the
formulary.
In planning humanitarian assistance, it might be more appropriate to
contact the director of the Essential Drugs Programme, of the
Department of Pharmacy, Ministry of Health in Maputo. The director is
Dr. Bachubai and his email address is: Bachubai@dnsdee.imoz.com
He may advise you to use the UNICEF document for this purpose.
Best regards,
