[e-drug] Faster Test Detects Fake Tamiflu Drugs (2)

E-DRUG: Faster Test Detects Fake Tamiflu Drugs (2)
-------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear E-druggers,

I admire very much instrumental analysis but frequently sample preparation is not very easy as outlined by Mr Fernandez himself in today's online
publication In-Pharma Technologist.Com:

(www.in-pharmatechnologist.com//news/ng.asp?n=84498&c=9bcC8j3%2BRTUjXNBIy4sdLA%3D%3D):

... The sample molecules must be the exact weight, they must be soluble in
the liquid, and they must perform the correct reaction," he (Fernandez) told LabTechnologist.com. "It's important to include all these safety measures to ensure we're looking at the correct molecule."

Fernandez believes the technique could be applied in the near future. "I
would say it's pretty much ready to go," he said. "It could be used by regulatory agencies, hospitals, and local forensic labs very easily."

Last week, we at the Global Pharma Health Fund (GPHF) published a simple
colour reaction and thin layer chromatographic test for counterfeit Tamiflu
detection on the spot in health settings of low-income countries. The colour reaction can be performed in a few minutes at costs below 10 cent. Identity and quantity could then be verified further using simple TLC test methods. A first impression of our manuals can be obtained via our homepage at www.gphf.org/web/en/minilab/manuals.htm .

Yours sincerely
